ABOUT THE ARTIST

PREM AHLUWALIA, popularly known as Prema, love for art started when she was still in school. During her school years she won many awards and laurels for her paintings-at that time all in water colours and pencil sketches. During her college days she would often make paintings to present to her family and friends. She married very young and is the mother of three children. During her early years of marriage she chose to devote all her time to her family, social work and her profession, journalism. A globe-trotter, her travels exposed her to art from all over the world. Later a void came in her life. Her children had all grown up and took to their wings. There was a certain vacuum.  It is at this stage that she decided to nurture her childhood artistic abilities. She joined Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi, to brush up her inborn talent. This was the beginning of her journey to the world of colours and forms. There was no looking back then. She dabbled in oils, acrylics and water colours and evolved her own style by using sand as a base medium in a lot of her works. Being a feminist, she strives to give the message of a just world where men and women are equals. Inspired by spirituality and her restless inner energy, which reflect in her Divine Collection, she has won much appreciation and recognition. Her works reflect her inner thoughts to bring calm and peace to human life and the entire universe.
